i got six SVCHOST.EXE running and of course if i close any of them itll turn off my computer. is this normal or not? can it be some sort of virus or spyware?

idk why, but microsoft has 5-8 of them running at any time. there are viruses that disguise themselves as it, but thats also the first place virus scans look.

Yeah, svchost has multiple instances running because each svchost instance controls any number of processes. You'll know if you're the victim of a virus posing as "svchost" in two ways:

1) The "svchost" spikes your CPU usage to 100%.

2) The "svchost" is actually spelled "scvhost" (another virus instance).

In general, you should never end an svchost process, unless it is one of those that has spiked your CPU usage.
