im making a smtp client and im wondering how can i know on which server do i have to connect

lets say i have a email john.doe@hotmail.com

how do i know to which server to connect to

is it mail.hotmail.com port 25 ????

and if so can this be used for sending mail to yahoo , gmail.....

Doesn't hotmail not support smtp access?
I thought it forced you to go through the www, unless it's changed lately.
