Sorry this is a really stupid question but im really new to programing. say i write a program in notepad. how can i run that program. again im sorry for this stupid question but i have no idea how to do this.

depends on the language. i only really know java and for that you need a compiler. a good open source compiler is BlueJ

what kind of program? depends on the language....
but all "real" programming lanuages require a compiler...
and if u save it as .txt it wont work
youd better get an IDE if your learning
