i just got back from a cruise ship and they had an internet cafe. this also will occur in hotels and some other places. I hooked up my computer to their wireless internet and i was able to connect. but when i tried to go to another website it would redirect me to their homepage unless i logged in/payed 75cents a minute. and it wasnt a meta redirect or javascript. i think it was VB. is there any possible way to bypass that.

IF it was VB, then their may have been a service or program running that kept watch over it. Go to the task manager and search for it and delete it if it is there. You could also download another browser. But if it is by way of them controling the actual internet, then you are pretty much screwed unless you can get into the admin comp.
