Brush up on these tutorials on how to do it using commands in a shell:
http://neptune.ne. . .to/jar.htm
http://www.javawo. . .ip120.html

I'm a lazy bum, so I use an automatic wrapper to turn my .jar into .exe programs. For that I use JSmooth (great tool):

http://jsmooth.so. . .forge.net/

yeh! that's f**king annoying.

Here is better way to debug.
-----------------------------------
-Open Dos promt.
-Go to under the folder where your jar file located.
-Type this : "java -jar yourjar.jar"
-Then it will show you why your jar doesnt work.
------------------------------------
