Ok, this should probably go into the other challenges part of the forum but I think this is where it truly belongs. I'm doing Other 10, the one with the DES hash. I have C&A but the +[add] button does not highlight for the DES hash. Anyone know why is that? As for the JTR part, does anyone have a Windows link to download it? On their page i can only seem to find Linux and Mac versions.

I agree, it was only a couple of lines below the Unix and MAC-versions :b
As for the Cain & Abel-issue, i'm not sure it is able to crack DES-hashes, but i'm pretty sure John The Ripper is

I'm probably about to sound like a complete moron to everyone but I really don't care, since I need an answer and will go through whatever flaming to get it.
I used the link for JTR and I downloaded it, however I have no idea how to compile it. I'd like to someday be able to use this program but since I have no idea how to get it to run, then that is going to happen any time soon.
Could anyone give me a hand?

If your talking about how to unzip it since its a zip file, google for the program WinZip, then just use it to open it and install it to a file location.

thats the one i downloaded and you dont need a compiler or anything.. all you have to do is use unzip it and learn how to use it..
