Does anyone have any good tips or anything on using GIMP?
Anything that looks good I'd like to learn basically
I've never been good with graphics but I like to try
I've been using GIMP recently but the tutorials aren't great so does anyone know any cool things that can be done using GIMP that would be good for me to help learn more about graphics?

Try applying loads of filters to a simple background. Usually you can get some great effects just by doing that. Script-Fu is good for this as well.
