Okay, this is really bothering me now. The forum is changing my text without letting me know. It encodes a backslash, but worst of all, it changes a pound symbol (shift+3 on a QWERTY keyboard) to an *.

The really crappy part is that the pound symbol is a comment in many programming languages (Perl for instance). I think that this feature should be removed. If the reason was to prevent XSS attacks, then maybe there are other issues that need to be fixed, rather than just filtering user input.
