Out of almost 30,000 members on HBH, there are a lot who have no points what so ever, and have been inactive for a long time.

These are obviously people who saw the sight, thought it would teach them to pwn their school or whatever, and didn't even know how to view the source for basic 1, so they cba with the site anymore.

These people are wasting possible usernames for new members to HBH.

Suggestion
I think it would be a good idea to remove all users who have:
1) No points whatsoever
2) Been inactive for a certain period of time, maybe 3 months?

But it has to be both of them, not one or the other :)

The thing where you had to pass Basic 1 to register was a good idea too, maybe that should come back so HBH doesn't get any more school pwnage wanabees :D

Maybe even make a 'delete account' option somewhere, so if you change your name/quit HBH then you can get rid of it. I know half the kids that come here looking for direct answers, rather than learning, won't use it, but at least it would be a step in the right direction.

Only problem I can foresee is the accidental deletion of your account. As long as it's in a vague spot not next to anything else you'd want to click, this shouldn't be that big of a problem. And having a confirmation box makes it even better.

(Someone getting your pass then deleting could also be a downfall, but that would just make the people that are serious about HBH watch their backs.)

What you need to remember is that some members haven't been back since there was a server glitch that removed some members points which happened a few months back.

They need to be given a chance to return and either find a cache of their profile from somewhere or re-do the challenges.

Maybe an email could be sent out via the 'Email Newsletter' system first before any accounts are removed to give members a chance to return and keep their account active.

Yeah I was thinking about that..

Maybe it should be like a 6 month thing before they get removed with no points?

Then anyone who actually wants to be on HBH that had points before the glitch would almost definitely have come online at least once within the six months....

But anyway
The email sounds like a good idea.

if you believe that it takes 6 months to beat basic 1, Why are you here?

Debugging is what programmers do to beta software to make it take up more room on your hard drive if it is running too efficiently.

who said that?

i agree that a lot of the profiles are just taking up space, but i dont think it's right to go by the points. some people might visit the site and only look at articles and the code bank and they dont care about 'rank' and 'points'.

Hehe I didn't say it takes 6 months to complete basic 1.

And yeah, they might just come for the code bank etc. but that's what the 6 months of inactivity is for.. ;)

And if they don't come for points, then they won't have lost anything if their account got deleted after 6 months.
