Yes a deturrent but the user gets a little number beside their name...BIG DEAL! I mean come on it is like stealing a babies candy and the mother/fater coming up and saying You are bad for doing that! Do you really care? If you stole in the first place no you would not so the number means nothing at all to the people doing the spamming. and as I said it could be like a Jail sentence where it is lowered over time.

honestly i wouldnt mess with members points... you dont want to go there. becasue you know if they get them taken away theyll start the b*tchin. so i think the warn system is fine the way it is but it should be enforced a little more. theres a lot of stuff in the shoutbox that gets by and no1 gets warned. so we should just kick up the standards for getting warned

Its an ok idea , but as some people said people will start wineing and stuff if you take away points. If you could come up with a way to give them back to them later or something it would be cool but other than that the idea is as someone said earlier just an IDEA but something i wouldnt care to see in progress. Some sites just do what schools sorta do, for a certain warning level you get a certain amount of days or weeks whatever banned from the site until sometimes it reaches the top and results in permanent banning, but im not sure we need to go that far.

dont screw with the points, the points reflect how much youve done towards hacking knowledge, not shoutbox posting knowledge.

well, I don't want to seem mean....but I think that taking away points is the way to go! Think...you want them to bitch. You are taking away something they want, But you have to give them a chance to redeem themselves. If they had points taken away because of nonsense and spamming....then the only for them to redeem themselves and regain their points, would be to post something of relevence. Maybe an Article or just a very interesting thread with a good point and then PM the URL to an Admin so that they can undu the point reduction.
The point here is that they are "punished" for doing something bad and given the chance to regain what was taken away, by doing something good and/or usefull.
I may not be very well known here....lol
but I think that this is a good idea.
I'm Just contributing my thoughts that's all.
I would appreciate it someone responded to my post

That wouldn't be nice..I think that they should still retain the freedom to post...but still the above idea I posted would be a good alternative. They get mad, but they can still make up for it.
sorta like a probation period where:
------------------------------------------------
*More spam=more points taken off
*More relevent articles = Points given back
------------------------------------------------
once they get all their points back...
then they return to being normal (unflagged) users.

That would remove the ability to redeem ones self then. Take away posting and the user will quit because they can no longer get help. Think of what you are saying. spammers would get the reduction for X number of days then loose the warn level and thus the percentage of point loss.
if the user posts some good information then that could counter the loss as well. All up to the admins truthfully

the warn system works fine. you can tell whose being a trouble maker and what not. its not ment to do damage, its ment to put a sign on your forehead that says "Im RETRAD"
when you get to 100% your banned.
Warnings dont go down automatically. We remove your warnings when you stop acting stupid.
its just a global notification to alert other members.

ok, I guess the system works fine as is.
and I wasn't saying that they should be banned from posting. I was saying that they would be allowed to regain their points through positive posts.

The more complex this gets the more I'm inclined to think otherwise.

Well u do not keep the perma banned from posting. Only like one day or so, if they dont get it, extend it. Im saying dont mess with something compltely irrelevant to what theyve done wrong.
Whoever said this..
its ment to put a sign on your forehead that says "Im RETRAD"
...

you know...I've thought about it...and I don't really think that it is that bad the way it is now.
I mean...I came up with a possible alternative, but it isn't tat bad the way it is right now.
I mean it would be a little more strict the way it was said earlier, and if members want to it to be more strict then go for it.
But if will cause more trouble than it prevents, then It might as well be either revised or just left alone.
what do you guys think about how it is currently?
P.S. Mr_cheese is the Mod and I think that he makes sure it's neccessary before making the call to mark the member with a warning.
