Google wont be much use, in finding which tools to use anyway, there would be few relavent results. I use paint and photoshop, on top of that you may want a hex editor (but you can just view it in a browser - actually a hex editor is best) try 32xvi or is it xvi32? for a hex editor.

And by all means use google.com to find where you can download these.
