I was thinking that maybe HBH could make an md5 cracker. I got the idea from milw0rm and how they have an online cracker but does not work around 12PM Australian time.
There is a of downside to this i would expect, it being that it would take up alot of database information (i think anyway).

Do you think my idea is good or bad?

http://www.md5decrypter.com/

it would take alot or resources to either hold the hash table....or take alot of time to brute it on a server....so we'd need the hash table like that site has....just use them

yeah but that site only works if the hash is in the table already, if i want to get the text from an encrypted hash and it isn't in there table it doesn't work ;)

yeah. but to brute force it would be a huge server strain....not for one or two...but imagine a bunch of people doing a bunch of hashes....
that would be pretty intense on our server. add in the sql and you've got an issue, eh?

yeah. im just confirming your thought. its a nice idea, but as of right now, i dont think its possible.
do you have JTR? why are you looking for a server side decrypter?

Yeah i have JTR but i am not sure how to use it properly with MD5 hashes and it always seems to go like this: (password is say "123qwe";) JTR tries and crack it as "123QWE" and not 123qwe" even if i set it as that in a word list.

I would use Cain but i get a "PacketGetReadEvent" error on Vista

I have a few problems with JTR aswell. The fact that I only downloaded it a few days ago and I have no idea how to use it I think is kind of why. I'll look at some articles and see what I can figure out hehe ;)
