First off, my excuse for the title but it's the only way i know it will catch people's attention  That and i was out of inspiration.
So the actual news, the irc community was talking about a new kind of competition earlier today wich sounded doable and fun in my ears.
Therefor i was curious how many people would interested in it, so what do you think about
Team Coding Wars,
Idea consists of coders grouping up to code in team form.
There will be challenges for the teams to get them points and get #1 in the team rankings on a 2 weekly or monthly base.
They can however get additional points by releasing usefull tools wich will be judged by staff and then submitted to downloads and the code bank.
So the war never stops, you can keep coding on big stuff and participate in the competitions, making your way up to #1 and get fame with your team.
This is your chance to prove what you are worth, and to see the big mouths fade into silence
There are only 2 rules,
1) It has to be open source
2) you have to set up your own way of communicating with your team members.
What will the challenges be:

It will consist of a simple programming assignement to getting a program and fixing it, improving it.
Also malware fightouts on virtual machines, like virusses etc
What will the benefits be:

Team points,
Team rankings,
You are continiously coding, thus improving your skills along the way
You are beating the crap out of the competition.
So let me know what you think about it, if enough people reply i'll set the whole thing up and i'll beat your arse 
If i missed something i'll edit it in later on, i'm quite busy atm, so make sure i have something to read when i check back
To all those who are searching for mentors etc, this is your chance to learn some programming in a fun and competitive way!

Same... I am learning PHP. I know how to do basic things in PHP but would love to participate and learn some more aspects of programming. |

*puts on a cute iresistable voice* could someone mentor me and help me to learn a programming language, pleeeease...!
I dunno what language I wanna learn, something thats no too difficult for a beginner, since I dont know any languages, and something useful (duh).

I've been programming PHP for 6 years now and am pretty good with it, so I suppose that I could mentor anybody that's on my team.

I have coded cookie stealers and cookie loggers in PHP but that is as much as i've done. I've been using PHP for about two weeks.
I love learning languages because I like the control I have over the code. Also don't need you to hold my hand when your teaching as all I need is direction. I'm also online more than im off. |

I'm up for it totally but I need to learn the programming languages... as of now I know HTML and Javascblockedript.... I suppose I'll start learning PHP or C++ within the next few days but I would totally be up for it
