For anyone that's interested, I found a pretty good read on monolithic kernels and microkernels. If you're interested in the architecture of OSs or how computers work, this is a good read for you.

I don't care too much, but I really do like mach I've only played with a it a bit can't wait untill something I can use day to day is available

First I've heard of it, I thought it was darwinia a fork of fbsd or soemthing... not too sure details are all hazy.
