then again a desktop case has maybe 3 or 4 main sizes but the laptops...

they come in many different shapes

Rebirth, Lemmingmolester,Xmadx and jcqguill have done it.

the general shape may be roughly the same, but there are some exception, for instance, the sound card on mine has a few indents and stuff and also the fans may be in different places. however, if this COULD be done it would be awesome

Yeah i know this is possible to get one size fits all cases. What me and my boss researched was we took the material diving suites are made out of and got someone to custom taylor it for 4.50$ AUD and then we printed the company logo on it for 8.50$ AUD. That is heaps easy but you need to find a good printer and taylor
