if i buy 1, it costs me $0.50
if i buy 21, it costs me $1.00
if i buy 2831, it costs me $2.00
what am i buying?

3-digit blocks in binary?
1 = 1
21 = 10101
2831 = 101100001111
At $.50 for each 3 digits, 1 would cost .50, 10101 would cost $1.00, and 101100001111 would cost $2.00.
As for the leaf... just stack enough leaves to get 1cm on the ruler, then divide by the number of leaves you stacked.
