When JTR is running and you push the space bar you get:
guesses: 0 time: 0:00:00:41 (3) c/s: 1274K trying: cbrj18 - cb10m9

What does the "(3)" mean. I am assuming the percentage of completion?

That's a reference to the cracking method it's currently using, if I remember right.

1. Single crack
2. Wordlist
3. Incremental (Ie: Bruteforce)
