Im new to this site as you know, and im very keen to learn about security and hacking etc, alot of you guys here are younger than me id say lol im 31
and i wish i had the technology you guys have now when i was your age. Anyway i theres so much to learn i wanted someone who knows what there talking about to start me off on the right track, ive always been into computers since i was in high school but then the computers we had were only bbc's ! anyway i thought id start with html/xhtml and css, im hoping learning that would get me going.... ive started some of the basic challenges and i must say looking at them ive ALOT to learn.... so any advice or ideas then please let me know.. I missed out on the Brighton meeting so i'll have to wait next yr maybe by then ill know abit more.. Thanks |

1st. Feel free to PM any1(just aboot) including me but most of all you DONT need a mentor... GOOGLE is your Mentor. Also instead of asking someone specific to help you it will be far more productive to ask EVERYBODY. Like here on the forums.
2nd. Continue on your learning of HTML/XHTML and CSS. I would suggest that you learn Javascblockedript before CSS unless you are more interested in WebDev stuff than PenTest stuff.
3rd. Get your own webspace(I suggest ulmb.com) for free.
4th. Dont worry about the missions/challs just yet. I still find the basic fairly hard and I've been doin this stuff for more than a year.
5th. PM me if you still want more info on getting started... I'm getting tired right now

I agree with you on everything. you don't need a mentor. part of hacking is learning on your owned or get some help if you need help. not give you the answer or do something for you. try to do it first if you have question you can always ask.
