Now now, ZI isn't dead... just idle :p The difference is it's not attracting noobs because it doesn't have "hack" in the name, and the challenges are gone.

Now, I'm not saying that HBH is full of noobs or anything like that, i'm not trying to get another inter-site war going. I'm just saying that most new members come to HBH through searching for hacking, how to hack etc. This attracts a lot of noobs, and also a comparatively small amount of people who know what they're doing.

That's why ZI is so inactive - and that's why it's being redesigned.

Just thought I'd make that clear :)

uuuh-huh. i dont suppose you could explain to me why it's dead exactly?

At least it's being developed. There are active users, and just because the user base isn't as big does not mean it's "dead".

If you put it in a ratio, i'm sure the number of people who have left HBH will -greatly- outnumber the number of people who have left ZI. So, unless you're claiming that HBH is also dead (which, it obviously isn't) then ZI certainly is not.

Dead: no longer having or seeming to have or expecting to have life

HBH's activity may be declining, and so may ZI's - but ZI is a new site, it's not reached anywhere near its potential, there's plenty of not just ideas - but ideas that are being developed and put to into practice. There is a key difference here. ZI expects to have life, and soon. HBH, on the other hand... well the very existence of this thread is a testament to how it doesn't.

Erhm, just because there's nothing new "appearing" on HBH, doesn't mean things aren't being done, any web developer will know backend code is literally always being tweaked and changed for better performance, better useage, etc, and plus, just coz things aren't being released as often as they were before, doesn't mean they're not in the process of being done, does it? No, point proven.

Amen to system_meltdown, You tell 'em brother. As far as ZI goes that site is lame, boring and lacks a lot of content. (Yes I know the people that put it together from here). I log in once in a while to see what's new and it's like this just sucks. Needs too be alot better.

What point?

From a user standpoint, developers may as well be wanking off behind the scenes. Backend changes aren't noticeable. Backend changes don't bring a community together.

If there's so much in the process of being done, why don't you tell us what it is.

Or better yet, give willing members of the community a bigger chance to actively participate in the development.

That *was* my point, things are being done, but it's things that aren't always noticeable.

And as for your other statement, it's because members should just have faith that things are being done, without the admins having to constantly reassure them.

I see.

So would I be correct in assuming that "regular" users are to take no part in the development of the site other then providing various snippets of content (challenges, articles, etc.)?

Did I say that? No. I didn't even mention anything about that =/

Of course "regular" users provide alot towards the development, they're the people the developers are developing for, if they weren't there to provide ideas and such, the developers/staff would have fuck all to do!

That's why it was an assumption, and that's why I asked. ;D

I'm clear now, thank you.
