in some posts iv seen that some of the "new admins" havnt had a chance to make their mark yet etc etc..

well i think the perfect way would to be start new regular competitions... it would be great to have a competition a week (at least).

i think it would gain allot more people and would make people more enthusiastic about hacking because its a real situation, i think if you set up a page for it, as in a completely new page... maybe under events. and so your team can register etc etc.

i don't know about anyone else but id love to see more competitions since all the time iv been here there never actually has been a competition i don't think :right:

Yes competitions are fun :D

Maybe not every week (that'd be a damn lot of work for the admins) but more often than now, if possible.

Well if it gets the go I've just submitted a news post about the first competition for any other GFX enthusiasts.

So far no points will be awarded (Unless the design is extremely good) but a helpful zip!

I will be brainstorming some ideas soon.

Yeah... Like a challenge, not too hard, but dealing with a few exploits, that's only up for a week or two... Don't allow articles or forum threads on them or anything, and if you miss the chance for the points you'll just have to try the next one :p

Okay well what do people make of the idea setting up a site and hosting a vulnerable CMS.

Person who has their defacement up at a certain time gets 50 points?

excellent idea flash! id love that.... maybe not 50 points if theres going to be more than one... if someone one like 10 times 500 points is a bit extravagant for that.

To be honest i don't really care for points, i like the fun and challenge of it so if there wasn't any points i wouldn't care

Okay well heres my plan.

I make an application form and post here. People can apply to help set up the competition with me (will be rewarded).

We make some vulnerabilities. Ranging from xss to SQL to rfi etc.

I would give a day for the competition to end. eg sunday.

Everyone taking part aims to keep their defacement up as the competition could end any hour on sunday.

You can also patch scblockedripts to prevent others using the exploit giving you more time at the top ;)

Yeah that's true ^^ Getting a line on your profile saying that you won would be enough :)

So what doesn't the first person get in and delete the site leaving their defacement

Either way, for XSS you'd need someone visiting the site to look at the XSS. IMHO points should not be awarded

Yeah, enigma group used to have this, i think there was only 2 and that was the end. I, personally, don't like the idea. It's just giving more people incentive to live life by their computer (due to it only being available 1 day and the need to keep your up as long as possible). I wouldn't mind if you put up some CMS challenges on this site. You know move the FLoG mission there, and put other ones there too. That'd be pretty cool.

It just doesn't seem like all that good of an idea to me, but that's just my opinion.

I see what you mean-

Well if EG have had that idea already then I'll figure something else out.

I'll compile some thoughts and idea's and post them.

Well what if you just made it like a normal mission except it's only temporary with no help... Making it so that you just deface the site and make it impossible to re-deface would suck as people would just sit there all day at computer...
