before i ask the question, just wanted to say sorry if its already been asked or if this is in the wrong section.
ok, i was wondering what i need to learn to know how to root? i dont know it thats the same as using nmap and telnet and those otehr things in the cmd prompt, but any help would be nice |

How to root? Erh, read the rooting manual. It's all explained in part six.

Guidelines etc. The first five chapters are intro, after part 6 comes the advanced stuff.

First research TCP/IP protocols, how computers work etc... Then learn to pentest boxes, enumerate their services, port scanning... basically how to find all the info you can gather from the box or the people perhaps behind the box. Then you can worry about exploiting these vulnerabilities, and then you will have a better understanding of what types of questions to ask when you do get stuck.
