Beginning A Career In Information Security

advertisement

website security Step by step how to get started in a Information Security . What courses to take and some other primary things to be doing .

INTRO :

Heres the list ive put together after months of research and countless articles . From my cross examination of many tutorials of this nature , the steps should be followed accordingly . That is of course unless any of the steps have already been aquired . Lets get started .

THE BEGINNING :

1. A home network to learn on .
(3-Computers with removable hard drives ;
One for a client , One as the server , and the
last can act as the intrusion detection system or firewall . )

You can google , how to set up a Home Network , as well as Setting up an Intrusion Detection System / Network . Also learning to do this of course would be most benneficial to do with previous experience or while going to school
for Networking + .

2. An entry level job in security . ( Help-desk , system admin , or other . )

This is critical , due to the fact that most jobs in this industry will not hire you without any previous in field experience . So any amount of training you can get wether at your local university , volunteer , online assistant of a website , or any other is a plus .

CONCLUSION :

All the links to aquire each individual certification in this tutorial were found by using Google .
Do the same to obtain more information on each for , Exam prep. help , forums etc. .

Alot of credit is due to two gentleman in perticular .
For it was there articles that help me make this .

Dan Miessler :
He has a simple intro to the field for begginers at the bottom of the page .
He also has a great descblockedription of alot of the certificates to take . See for yourself :

Steve Hailey :
This fellow touches on what seems to be the basics of everything for getting started .
He goes into good detail of whats , whys , & hows . See for yourself :

Well i hope this was as helpfull as theres were .I just wanted to offer a jump start towards the journey for others by taking out some of the question of direction . As well as cut out a little leg work in finding all the links for those interested in starting this career and at the same time make the article a little shorter and straight to the point . What to do & how to do it with less text in the middle . I think ive done so !?

Thanks ,
