A short explanation of MD5
*As soon as I have more time, I'll expand this article.*
MD5 stands for Message-Digest Algorithm 5, and is a widely-used encryption method. MD5 was considered impossible to crack, however, as most people will tell you, no encryption method is impossible to crack. If you are interested in cracking a MD5 hash, this article will explain how to do it. 'http://www.hellboundhackers.org/readarticle.php?article_id=244'. MD5 hashes are also used as a "digital signature" because if anything is changed, including case, the hash will be completely different. Here are three examples (notice the case difference);
HellBound Hackers: 1e2840f706658ccdde6fdf60cbee9487
Hellbound Hackers: 89b9bf038fff9b30f8b136ce737273eb
The hash of a zero length file: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e
