A quick article on MD5

website security A short explanation of MD5

*As soon as I have more time, I'll expand this article.*

MD5 stands for Message-Digest Algorithm 5, and is a widely-used encryption method. MD5 was considered impossible to crack, however, as most people will tell you, no encryption method is impossible to crack. If you are interested in cracking a MD5 hash, this article will explain how to do it. 'http://www.hellboundhackers.org/readarticle.php?article_id=244'. MD5 hashes are also used as a "digital signature" because if anything is changed, including case, the hash will be completely different. Here are three examples (notice the case difference);

Well written. no content what so ever though. nothing on HOW to crack it, where is it used or even HOW to get the hash output. a little more detail is needed I think

Not really an article. . . Just a vague descblockedription of the MD5 message digest with a few example hashes.

good but i liked the other better ;)

That was pretty pointless.... BTW, its possible to make 2 files have the same MD5 checksum now.

wow big article... very informative lol :)

This seems more like a response to a question than an article, if I'm being honest. (Sorry)
HopelessRomantic on May 20 2006 - 16:25:09
Is there a remove article button?
system_meltdown on May 20 2006 - 18:25:32
Nope there isn't

Haha - Want to remove it? It's not that bad..; just a bit short. You could explain which programs are used to get/crack the hashes (give some sites) and tell about how you could crack best (which options etc.) Rated it... Good :D
drew_m_noel on May 20 2006 - 22:08:02
1/10 very little on how it works etc

Another bad article no info no content. Sesame street definition of md hash. Admin's look at these things! Even list a better article in it.
Zekasu on May 22 2006 - 01:31:06
Lol, a much better way would actually to EXPLAIN the bloody algorithm. My mom knows this much about MD5. =/
H-oLm35 on May 22 2006 - 17:04:26
yeah.. you should talk a little more about RSA ... MD5 and RSA are one step closer than you might think ;)
Nubzzz on June 05 2006 - 04:51:17
Thank you for linking to my article but I agree with the rest of them. It is very short and doesnt really explain what a MD5 hash is or how it is created or anything. BUT you can always edit it to include more information so I suggest you do that.
crayaku on January 23 2008 - 13:02:56
