I did some more research and found out that at one time in Virginia, US, they used to have a Sunday Law. It was punishable by death. I hope this doesn't come around again. All it takes is a natural disaster or terrorists to get these people saying "God is unpleased and we need to be more religious".
Religion should be kept to ones self not enforced by law. |

think about what religion has given us....war, prejudice, peodphilic priests, controlled lifestyle, murderers, witch hunts, terrorism.... the list goes on. |

I think I would be in a lot of trouble if I were American! I am atheist and do not think there is a singular power. Each person is his (or her) own person. Religion is just a means of controlling the general populace. Then again that is just me and I am crazy sometimes.
Enjoyed the article though cube! |

Cheese, what about morals? The list only came out with the breakdown of religion. All it proves is that you can't have a half hearted approch. Also I think you'll find it's only christianity that caused all these problems |
on May 08 2006 - 16:46:18
Number 1 is actually "Thou shalt not worship false idols". Just thought I'd let you know lol. Great work though, I hope this don't happen! |

wolfmankurd - every sane person in existence has morales and ethics, regardless of their religious or non religious orientation. Also, i think you'll find all religions cause problems in one way or another. Islam vs Jews etc.. Its not just christianity. |
on May 08 2006 - 21:27:37
Religion cause a lot of problem ... not just now ...
If their were no chrsitian religion we will probably all lived in a big empire named Rome because it christian that made this empire crash and fall into the darkest period of our history (Medieval Age).
This is maybe the only thing I remember of my history course but its still a big fact about the christian religion. |
on May 08 2006 - 22:02:07
Well if Rome had internet I wouldn't be complaining |

hitler is god...anyone agree? |

part of being free is letting people believe what they want to believe. it looks like they're just trying to defend their right to put the ten commandments in public. nobody ever said they were forcing people to accept them or live by them.
and the witch hunts, crusades, etc only happened because "religion" was distorted, misinterpreted and taken to the extreme...if everyone is forced to believe or accept one thing (like what hitler did) then millions of people die. this whole "ten commandments day" thing is just people standing up for their freedom. it's true the government shouldn't force religion on people, but having the ten commandments in public is simply exercising one's freedom of speech.
i'm open to debating this if someone wants to talk about it. |

I think there should be some more belief in a higher power in America, I believe it would make others be more respectful to there fellow man. |
on May 14 2006 - 09:26:21
is a moral value still a moral value when its forced to be one? think about it. these people are getting way too extreme... |

not to sound to harsh towards the christian religion, buy why would a perfect god create an angel that could become evil? angels are not supposed to have free will like man, so how could the devil exist.? Furhtermore why would god create the tree of knowledge of good and wisdom if he didn't want humans to eat from it? If he could forsee them eating from it then what was the point of creating it in the first place, y not go back to the drawing board and just redesign us? The christian religion makes less sense then bush, and thats pretty sad. |

ok first off theese people you are talking about are nut jobs...
i am a chrstian i believe in the ten commandments i TRY to follow them and I make mistakes.
but i does not mean i go around enforceing my faith on others you guys get to choose tyo believe whatever you want to believe it doesn't matter to me... well it does but you know its your choice |
on September 09 2007 - 07:09:14
@omniwrath540:
what you say is hard to understand. its one off the most debated topics in religion....
cause ther some common beliefs us christians have:
God made it so we could have a choice
God knows the future
God has a plan for a life
theese three things contradict each other.
IF WE HAVE A CHOICE BUT IF GOD KNOWS THE FUTURE DO WE REALLY HAVE A CHOICE FOR OUR FUTURE IS ALREADY DECIDED |
on September 16 2008 - 17:58:28
mr_smiley: Yes, an omnipotent God would know what would happen to us, what choices we'd take, and plan accordingly. But do YOU know what choices you'll make in 5 years? Foreknowledge doesn't necessarily lead to no choice. Just because I know that if I leave a two-year old in a room with a sucker that he'll try to eat it, does it mean that I'm taking away his choices?
The US constitution doesn't allow the United States government to make laws enforcing religions and etc, but I don't thing that it includes or even is right to 'protect' people from religion. Just like I think it would be fair to teach the THEORY of evolution alongside the THEORY of creation. Present all sides to people, teach them how to think, and maybe we'd get rid of religious IGNORANCE and INTOLERANCE, which is the true cause of most fights/wars/etc.
Stupidity is our common enemy! |
